The 2010 Litter Enforcement Training Workshop is coming to the Northwest Georgia area on Monday, July 26th. The Dalton-Whitfield County workshop will be held at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton, GA. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the training is from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. This free workshop will earn law enforcement personnel 4 hours of POST credits. Registration is required and space is limited. To register visit www.KeepGeorgiaBeautiful.org and click on “Litter. It costs you.”
Litter is a crime. Learn how to make your community safer by taking the time to enforce Georgia’s Comprehensive Litter Prevention and Abatement Act. The Act, passed during the 2006 Legislative Session makes it easier to cite someone for littering or illegal dumping and has authorized additional Courts to hear those citations. Attendees will learn how the law has changed, how aggressive litter enforcement has been used as a deterrent to additional crimes, and how to work with court officials and others to successfully deter littering and illegal dumping. Attendees will walk away with a litter enforcement resource toolkit for use by law enforcement personnel.
Who should attend: Police, Sheriff, State Patrol Officers; Environmental Code and DNR Enforcement officials; Municipal, Probate, State and Superior Court Judges; Mayors and City Council members; County Commission Chairmen and Commissioners; Senators and Representatives; Other civic and community leaders such as Keep America Beautiful Affiliates.
Keep Georgia Beautiful, Georgia Department of Community Affairs Office of Environmental Management, Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful and the Dalton-Whitfield Regional Solid Waste Management Authority are hosting this event. For more information call Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful at 706-226-6211. |

An estimated 610 people attended educational sessions and over 1,028 residents participated in the variety of events.
