Bird Banding Demonstration with Keep Dalton-Whtifield Beautiful

Dr. David DesRochers, a professor at Dalton State College, will be hosting a bird banding demonstration on April 27th. You will learn how licensed professionals safely catch and handle birds, as well as why bird banding is so important and seeing some species up close. Bird banding is a helpful technique used for studying and identifying individual birds.

This event is free! You may stop by anytime between 8:00 am to 12:00 p.m. at the Peeples Hall Patio at Dalton State College. Feel free to bring some snacks and stay a while! This is a great opportunity to learn about birds up close and talk to a real ornithologist about birds in our area.

Bring your friends and families but please leave your pets at home.
Photos are encouraged!

This event is hosted by Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful thanks to Dalton State and THRIVE's Resilient Community Program.

The goal of this program is to educate our community about the amazing diversity of plants and animals which live on Rocky Face Ridge and the environmental services which the ridge provides, such as flood control, cooling of the air in summer, and the storage of carbon.

Celebrate Earth Day with Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful

What better way to celebrate Earth Day then helping us do a massive litter cleanup? Mill Creek Road is ripe with litter due to it being a busy road in a rural setting and we need YOUR help to get it looking spiffy and beautiful again!

We'll bring the snacks and supplies and you bring the whole family and together, let's take care of our town! We also hear some special prizes will be given out at the end for those with a competitive streak!

We'll park at Need too Feed at 9:00 a.m. and begin our cleanup and go until 12:00 p.m.!

Guided Wild Plant Hike set for April 13th

Join Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful and learn more about the plants right in our own backyard! This guided hike is FREE and open to all! Meet at the College Creek trailhead (near Bandy Gymnasium on DSC campus) - the hike will begin at 9am. Presented by Keep Dalton Whitfield Beautiful and Rootin’ for the Ridges.
