Facilities closed in observance of Memorial Day

Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026 in observance of Memorial Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. King Convenience Center.

Memorial Day Holiday Schedule:

Saturday, May 23, 2026 - All Locations Open - Normal Hours (7am – 3pm)

Monday, May 25, 2026 – All Locations Closed

 Tuesday, May 26, 2026 – All Locations Open (7am – 6pm)   (Westside Normally Closed)

 Wednesday, May 27, 2026 – Resume Normal Operating Days and Hours (McGaughey Chapel Closed)

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced that its four facilities in Whitfield County will be closed on Saturday, January 31, 2026 due to inclement weather.

Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face, and the M.L. King Blvd. Convenience Center in Dalton.

Convenience centers (also called transfer stations) provide drop-off areas for household garbage and collection of recyclable materials from Whitfield County residents.

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced that its four Convenience Centers in Whitfield County will have a delayed opening at 10:00 am Monday, January 26, 2026 due to inclement weather.

Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face, and the M.L. King Blvd. Convenience Center in Dalton.

Landfill, Convenience Centers Announce Holiday Hours

Facilities closed in observance of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day

 The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced the holiday hours of operation for it’s four facilities in Whitfield County. Locations include the Old Dixie Hwy. Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face, and the M.L. King Convenience Center in Dalton. 

 

All locations will be closing early at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24th and closed Thursday, December 25th in observance of Christmas and re-open on Friday, December 26th regular hours.

 

All locations will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026 in observance of New Year’s Eve and re-open on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Facilities closed in observance of Thanksgiving Day

 

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced the holiday hours of operation for it’s four facilities in Whitfield County. Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face, and the M.L. King Convenience Center in Dalton. 

All locations will be closing early and will be open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26 including the McGaughey Chapel location that is normally closed on Wednesdays. All four sites will be closed on Thursday, November 27 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. All locations will reopen on Friday, November 28 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and resume normal hours.
