Tire-Drop Off and HHW Resuming in May

(May 4, 2020) - The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority will resume tire recycling drop-off for residents on May 5, 2020. Tires can be dropped off only at the Old Dixie Convenience Center (4189 Old Dixie Hwy. Dalton, GA) at this time. Commercial haulers may schedule tire drop-offs by contacting Seth Lassitter at 706-277-2545 or slassitter@dwswa.org.

  • Tires (up to 22 inches) = $2 per tire

  • Tires on rim (up to 22 inches) = $3 per tire

    • NO GOLF CART, ATV, LAWN MOWER, ETC. TIRES ON THE RIM WILL BE ACCEPTED.

  • Tractor trailer tires = $7.50 per tire

  • Tractor trailer tires on rim = $25 per tire

  • Only accepted at Old Dixie: Bulk Tires = $141.65 per ton

ALL COMMERCIAL LOADS OF TIRES MUST BE PRE-APPROVED PRIOR TO DELIVERY. PRE-APPROVED COMMERCIAL LOADS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED AT THE OLD DIXIE LOCATION.

In addition, we will resume our monthly Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection day on May 16, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 4189 Old Dixie Hwy. HHW is for Whitfield County residents only. The HHW facility is open to residents of Whitfield County the third Saturday of every month and accepts leftover household products such as pesticides, old gasoline, batteries, paints and pool chemicals, to name a few.  Employees, that are HAZWOPER certified, inventory collected materials that are then recycled or, if no market exists, disposed of utilizing a licensed hazardous waste incinerator.
